why product market fit comes first
Good afternoon Predictable Revenue community,
Thanks to everyone that shared their feedback last week. I sat down with a publisher this week to talk about the book launch and we are pushing for September 2025. My first reaction was that this seemed like an extremely long time to wait but then she explained the process to me. We’re pushing for a physical launch (airports, book stores, etc…) and the sales process to all the different layers adds quite a bit of time.
This week I cleaned up the Intro thanks to everyone’s feedback. Now we’re onto Chapter 1: Why Product Market Fit Comes First. Every week I’m going to focus on improving a chapter and sharing it with you all.
Here’s the tl;dr:
Great sales teams can’t fix weak product market fit
A founder needs to own the growth role or it won’t be taken seriously
Firing a VP (sales / marketing) is rarely going to solve a growth problem
Product Market Fit is not binary, it exists on a spectrum from weak to strong
Investing in growth with weak product market fit is the #1 startup killer
There is a simple formula to calculate your growth ceiling
If you want to read the chapter and share feedback, I would love your input. Here’s the link: https://helpthisbook.com/collin-stewart/the-terrifying-art-of-finding-customers
Happy closing,
Collin Stewart
PS - the feedback link will always be the same, I just upload a new version every week. Which means if you’re following along but don’t read these emails before the following Thursday afternoon, you might miss out on that Chapter.
